Commission Chairman, Percy L. Brown, Jr., called the meeting of the Hancock County Commissioners to order at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2015 in the conference room of the Hancock County Courthouse, located in Ellsworth, Maine with Commissioners Joy and Blasi in attendance.

Adjustments to the agenda:

MOTION: to add item 2b, approval of the Sheriffs’, Chief Deputy and Deputies Bonds. (Joy/Brown 2-0, motion passed)

Commission Business:


MOTION: to enter into Executive Session under MRSA Title 1 §405 6(a) to conduct County Administrator interviews. (Joy/Brown 2-0, motion passed)

Commissioner Blasi joined the meeting, via telephone, due to inclement weather, just prior to Commissioner Brown calling the meeting back into regular session at 10:05 a.m.  There was nothing to report.


Chief Deputy Pat Kane presented the commissioners with a State Bid from Quirk Auto Group for a 2015 Ford Utility Police Interceptor K8A AWD 4DR cruiser.  The total price of the vehicle was $26,871.  This is piggy backed under the State Bid and is $400 less.  Another bid for a different cruiser will be presented at another meeting.

MOTION: to authorize the sheriff’s department to purchase the one vehicle for $26,871. (Joy/Brown 2-0, motion passed) Discussion: the funds will come from account #3011-70.

MOTION: to approve the Sheriffs’, Chief Deputy and Deputies Bonds. (Joy/Brown 2-0, motion passed)

Commissioner Joy asked the status of commissioners participating (voting) in meetings via telephone.  Commissioner Brown stated that recent legislation did not pass although it may come up again.

A Special Meeting was scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on January 16th to conduct County Administrator interviews, employee evaluations with the Facilities Director and the CFO and to discuss the Telecommuting Agreement.
